Profit measures revenue minus expenses. Cash flow tracks actual cash moving into and out of a business.

Why they differ

• Customers may pay later.
• Inventory uses cash before sales occur.
• Loan principal affects cash but not profit.
• Depreciation affects profit but not current cash.
